SIGMA

Presentation

Teaching improvement must be a constant throughout our professional careers. We must be able to constantly improve our teaching activities, adapting to scientific and technological advances. In this sense, geographic information systems (GIS) are extremely useful tools in the environmental field. Various teaching innovation and educational improvement projects have been developed, focusing on the use of collaborative GIS with students.

PIEU 2024

This project aimed to promote the implementation of environmental monitoring activities in urban environments, leveraging collaborative Geographic Information Systems and machine learning. The project’s objective was to develop a geographic information system with students to identify and analyze environmental deficiencies in urban environments using artificial intelligence techniques. By involving university students in this innovative teaching project, the aim was to generate the seeds for future citizen collaboration actions to improve the environmental sustainability of cities, while also fostering scientific culture and vocations and introducing students to the multidisciplinary research necessary to address the planet’s environmental and social challenges.
